Procedure Preparation

Clear, simple instructions so you arrive ready for your appointment. Your care team will confirm specifics tailored to your individual study.

Echocardiogram

  • No special preparation is usually required.
  • Wear a two-piece outfit; you may be asked to change into a gown.
  • Bring a list of medications and any prior cardiac imaging.

Stress ECG / Stress Echo

  • Avoid caffeine for 24 hours before the test.
  • Do not eat a heavy meal in the 3 hours before testing.
  • Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes suitable for a treadmill.
  • Specific instructions about cardiac medications will be provided.

Holter / ABPM Monitoring

  • Shower before the appointment — the monitor cannot be removed during recording.
  • Keep a simple diary of symptoms and activity during the recording period.
  • Avoid swimming, baths and contact sports while the monitor is on.

Nuclear Cardiology

  • Avoid caffeine for at least 24 hours before the study.
  • Detailed fasting and medication instructions are given at booking.
  • Plan for 2–4 hours at the facility, including waiting periods.

General guidance

Bring all current medications, including supplements.
Follow specific food and caffeine instructions for your test.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that is easy to change.
Bring prior reports, ECGs and imaging where possible.
